Professional Practice Framing:

Collins Alliance represents Dr. Collins's executive advisory, organizational research,

and corporate consulting work—distinct from unrelated private clinical practice.

THE FOUNDATION

Replacing motivational slogans with systems engineering

For over two decades, Dr. Joey Collins has worked with senior leaders navigating intense operational complexity—from aerospace launch directors at Blue Origin to global manufacturing executives at General Motors and managing partners at professional-services firms.

Early in his career, Joey noticed a persistent flaw in traditional executive development: when talented, dedicated professionals became overwhelmed or stalled, leadership consulting almost universally framed it as an individual deficiency in "grit," "mindset," or "resilience."

"The data says otherwise. When smart people work hard and nothing moves, the problem isn't effort. It's the system around the work."

This insight led to his groundbreaking 212-leader empirical study, which confirmed that 73% of professionals experiencing acute burnout were operating in organizational conditions specifically documented to

produce breakdown.

BEYOND THE WORK

HE DOESN’T JUST STUDY PERFORMANCE,

HE LIVES IT.

When Dr. Joey steps away from the research, coaching sessions and leadership work, you’re likely to find him doing something that tests his own limits.

Cycling. Running. Racing. Obstacle courses. Endurance challenges.

For Joey, performance isn’t something that exists only in a conference room.

Training has given him another place to experience many of the same things leaders face at work: pressure, uncertainty, setbacks, fatigue and the decision to keep moving when things get uncomfortable.

But it has also reinforced something important:

"High performance isn’t about pushing harder forever. It’s knowing when to push, how to recover and how to keep moving forward."

That perspective follows him back into his work with leaders—not as another motivational slogan, but as something he has experienced firsthand.

Because the person behind Collins Alliance is still testing, learning and growing too.
